MOUNT MERU
Trekking Overview
Enjoy a short wildlife safari whereas gain experience of walking excursion in some of the untouched and remote areas where not many tourists request which include Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Olmoti and Embakai craters then proceed to Lake Natron (Ol donyo Lengai) “the Mountain of God”.
Day 01: Kilimanjaro International Airport - Arusha
On arrival at the airport you will be met and transfer to Arusha for overnight stay
Dinner and overnight
- Overnight : Mount Meru Hotel – Standard room
- Meal plan: Bed and breakfast
Day 02: Arusha – Momella Gate - Miriakamba Hut (altitude 1500m) trekking hours 4 – 6)
After breakfast you will be met by your trekking guides for briefing also for checking climbing gears before heading off to Arusha National Park in Momela Gate for registration thereafter start trekking with armed ranger who will guide to Miriakamba hut for dinner and overnight stay
Day 03: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (altitude 3,570m) trekking hours 3 – 5)
After breakfast start a trek from Miriakamba Hut to saddle below Little Meru is a short day but a steep climb. The walk will take us slowly along the ridge for a spectacular view of the Meru Crater and the impressive Ash Cone. After hot lunch at Saddle Hut we can make a short climb to the summit of Little Meru for superb views just before sunset.
Day 04: Saddle Hut – Summit (4566m) – Miriakamba Hut (altitude 2514m) trekking hours 10 –12)
At mid night we start to trek steeply to Rhino Point and on to Cobra Point where we will reach to summit during sunrise, will be a probability of seeing Kilimanjaro peak if weather is clear then we will take a short rest and brunch at Saddle Hut before proceeding to Miriakamba Hut for dinner and overnight.
Day 05: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha (altitude 1500/1387m) trekking hours 2-4)
After early breakfast we descent through open grassland and mixed forest, with a possibility of seeing wildlife before reaching Momella gate, on arrival you will be met by your driver who will transfer you to Arusha for leisure
Dinner and overnight

- Meal plan: Bed and breakfast
Day 06: Lake Natron – Arusha – Kilimanjaro International Airport
After breakfast, you will have a free day with an option of joining our safari schedule or you will be transferred to airport for your onward flight to your next destination.
